What does it mean to be “thankful?”

As we gather to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, what are you thankful for? What does it mean to be thankful?

This month we will begin our study of the seven continents.

On the science shelves we will study trees and leaves. Why do leaves fall off some trees this time of year? Why do leaves change color? What happens to the tree when the leaves fall off? We will also learn all about the turkey.

Mr Bones

Welcome Mr. Bones!

Our areas of study this month will be our skeletal system, pumpkins, and what to do in a fire emergency. Thank you, Chief Waters, for visiting us and conducting our fire drill.

We have begun planning our garden. The children will begin construction of the planter boxes in the near future. When asked what they would like to grow. The reply was a resounding, “All of it, strawberries, blueberries, pineapple, everything we can eat, and some yellow flowers to give my mom.”

What’s New: We will continue to follow Covid-19 health and safety guidelines.

Pack your warm coat. We are off to Antarctica! Are Antarctica and the Arctic the same place? Our areas of study will be penguins, polar bears, and animals in winter. Migrate, hibernate or adapt who does what and why?

What’s new: If you are traveling for the holiday by train, boat, or plane, please review and follow the Covid-19 health policy prior to returning to school in January. Thank you.

We would like to wish our families, friends, and community a peaceful holiday season. This month we will learn how different families celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanza.
